Odoo 18 Subscriptions turns a sales order into a recurring one: you attach a recurring plan, and Odoo re-invoices the order on that period, tracks its monthly recurring revenue, and renews or closes it on schedule. Plans bill in weeks, months or years, and can let customers renew, add products or cancel from the portal. Subscriptions is an Odoo Enterprise app, not a Community one.
Recurring revenue businesses — from SaaS companies to memberships and service contracts — rely on predictable income. But managing renewals, billing cycles, and customer upgrades manually can get messy fast.
Odoo 18 Subscriptions simplifies everything — automating billing, reminders, upgrades, and analytics so you can focus on growth instead of admin work.
Creating Subscription Products and Plans
Setting up subscription-based products is easy in Odoo:
- Create subscription templates (e.g., Monthly, Yearly, Premium Plan)
- Define pricing, billing cycle, and contract terms
- Offer optional add-ons or upsells
- Customize terms and conditions per plan
Customers can sign up online via your website or through a sales quotation — both flow seamlessly into your subscription database.

Questions we get asked
Is Odoo 18 Subscriptions included in Odoo Community?
No. Subscriptions is an Odoo Enterprise app, so it needs an Enterprise subscription or a paid Odoo Online or Odoo.sh plan. On Community you can still issue ordinary invoices from the Invoicing app and repeat them by hand, but the recurring plans, automatic re-invoicing, portal self-service and the churn and recurring-revenue reporting come only with the Enterprise module.
What billing periods can a subscription plan use in Odoo 18?
A recurring plan in Odoo 18 is a number plus a unit, and the units are weeks, months and years — there is no daily billing. Monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annual and weekly plans are therefore just different values of the same two fields. A plan can also align every invoice to the first day of the billing period, which keeps a whole customer base on the same cycle.
Can customers cancel their own subscription in Odoo 18?
Only if you allow it. Each recurring plan has a Closable option that is switched off by default; turn it on and the customer gets a cancel action in the portal and has to pick a close reason, which feeds your churn analysis. Separate options let them renew early or change quantities themselves. Leave them off and cancellations stay with your sales team.
How does Odoo 18 charge a subscription automatically?
When a customer pays online, Odoo 18 can save a payment token against the subscription. On each renewal date a scheduled action issues the invoice, charges that token and emails the document. If payment fails Odoo retries, and after the plan's automatic closing delay it closes the contract, so a card that has expired does not leave you invoicing someone indefinitely.
What does MRR mean on an Odoo 18 subscription?
MRR is monthly recurring revenue. Odoo 18 normalises every recurring line to a monthly figure, so a yearly plan counts as one twelfth of its price each month, and the total is stored on the order and rolled up in the subscription reports. Annual recurring revenue is that figure multiplied by twelve, and the same reports break the movement down into new and lost revenue.
