Yes. MRP is LGPL and part of Odoo Community: multi-level bills of materials, work centres, routing operations, work orders, subcontracting, and the stock moves a manufacturing order generates. Odoo Enterprise adds the shop-floor tablet interface, the Quality app, PLM and the Enterprise accounting reports, so a small factory can run real production before paying a licence.
What does an Odoo implementation actually involve?
For a single company with fairly standard processes, a few months is realistic: requirements, configuring the chart of accounts and the warehouse, importing masters and opening balances, testing a full order-to-cash and purchase-to-pay cycle on real data, training, then cut-over. Several sites, several currencies or heavy customisation push it out. Treat the range above as planning, not a promise.
Can Odoo be customised without writing code?
Studio, part of Odoo Enterprise, lets you add fields, rearrange forms and list views, build reports and define automated actions from the interface, and what it produces is a normal Odoo module. Deeper behaviour still needs Python and XML. Odoo Community has no Studio, so customisation there means a developer or a third-party app from the Odoo Apps store.
When is Odoo not the right answer?
When you need certified, out-of-the-box process depth that Odoo would have to be built up to: heavily regulated batch manufacturing, complex engineer-to-order costing, or a global group with dozens of statutory ledgers and an in-house team already trained on one vendor. In those cases the licence saving is smaller than the cost of building and then maintaining the gap.
