Odoo vs Help Scout – Best Helpdesk Software

Compare Odoo Helpdesk and Help Scout across features, pricing, and integrations. Find the best support platform for your business needs in 2024.

· ERP practice 20 May 2025

Help Scout is the faster route for a small team that wants a shared support inbox and little else. Odoo Helpdesk is the better fit when tickets need to sit beside the customer's orders, invoices, deliveries and projects — but note it is an Odoo Enterprise app, so it comes with an Odoo subscription rather than on its own.

Questions we get asked

Is Odoo Helpdesk available in Odoo Community?

No. Helpdesk is an Odoo Enterprise app, so running it means an Enterprise subscription. Community users who need ticketing usually either use the Project app as a lightweight ticket board, add Live Chat — which is LGPL and in Community — or install a third-party helpdesk module from the Odoo Apps store. Check what your subscription covers before planning a rollout.

How do tickets get into Odoo Helpdesk?

Each helpdesk team can have its own email alias, so mail sent to it becomes a ticket with the whole thread kept on the record. Teams can also take tickets from a website form, from Live Chat conversations, and from the customer portal, where a signed-in customer sees their own tickets. Agents can raise one by hand from any contact as well.

Does Odoo Helpdesk support SLAs?

Yes. You define SLA policies per team: a target stage to reach, a time to reach it in, and which tickets it applies to, narrowed by priority, tag or customer. Each ticket then shows whether it is in time, late or has met the policy, and teams get a success rate. Working hours come from the company calendar, so deadlines do not run through closed days.

We already have a support inbox — is it worth moving?

Move when the answers keep needing information the inbox does not hold: what the customer bought, what is still owed, which delivery is late. Inside Odoo the ticket sits next to those records and can trigger a return, a repair or a task without retyping anything. If your support is mostly generic questions, a dedicated inbox with a lighter setup stays the cheaper answer.
